AT&T sponsored the Latinos in Action’s 4th Annual Boot Camp Leadership Conference, where 270 students from 26 secondary schools throughout Utah and southeast Idaho gathered at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, for three days. In addition, 28 students representing nine universities served as counselors, mentors and workshop presenters.
The Boot Camp is a hands-on leadership training for LIA youth and college students who are elected to LIA leadership positions in secondary schools and college chapters. Students participated in various workshops focusing on skills including the power of leadership, being peacebuilders, helping others with emotional distress and how to afford college.
“None of this would have been possible without our sponsors and donors,” noted Enriquez. “We are extremely grateful to AT&T for stepping up and supporting our vision; to Goldman Sachs and Bighorn Law for leading our mock interviews; and to USU for hosting us on their campus.”
